Project on Codifying, Consolidation and Reforming the Urban Planning and Developmental Laws and Policy in the State of Karnataka
This Project has been granted by the Government of Karnataka to the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru with the objective of consolidating and reviewing the Urban Development-related Laws in the State of Karnataka, leading to the construction of a Model Law and Manual for implementation, embellished with modern concepts and internalization of best practices. The Project also aims at building the legal capacity in the understanding and the interpretation of the Urban Development-related laws through teaching and research in the Law Schools in India.
As a part of the Activities required under the Project, a one day Consultative Brainstorming Workshop was conducted on the 27th of March 2017 and the Project launch workshop took place on the 20th of February, 2018 at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru which was attended by civil servants, planning experts, civil society organizations working in the area of governance and planning and faculty from the law school.
In order to prepare the deliverables as expected under the Project, the Law School has also entered into institutional associations with multiple Law Schools across Karnataka that would aid in the process reforming , codifying and consolidating the multiplicity of laws that are present in the State on Urban development and Planning
