ONE DAY SEMINAR ON COMMON PROPERTY RESOURCES AT SDM LAW COLLEGE, MANGALORE (2nd February 2018)
On 2nd February 2018, the Eco Club of SDM Law College in association with the Environmental Law Clinic, National Law School of India University (NLSUI), Bengaluru organised a one day National Seminar on the topic “Cultural and Traditional Rights: Access to Common Property Resources”.
Dr. R. Venkata Rao, the Vice Chancellor of NLSIU Bengaluru inaugurated the seminar by lighting the lamp. He spoke about the knowledge of medicinal plants usage by the tribal people and how they have passed the knowledge about such plants from generations, Challenges in the utilization of the same by our next generations through the applied sciences. Dr. Rao reiterated the necessity of keeping alive the traditional knowledge and the utilization of technology to strike an immaculate balance between commercial needs for resources and preservation of the cultural and traditional rights. Dr. M.K. Ramesh, Professor of Law, NLSIU, Bangalore graced occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Sairam Bhat, Professor of Law, NLSIU, Bengaluru was the guest of honour. Sri. A. Rajendra Shetty, Member of the Governing Council, SDME Society, Ujire presided the function. Dr. Tharanath, Principal SDM Law College welcomed the gathering with his kind words.
FIVE DAY CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT WORKSHOP ON “ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATIONS: INTERPRETATION AND ENFORCEMENT” FOR THE OFFICIALS OF CENTRAL POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD AT NLSIU (5TH FEBRUARY 2018)
The National Law School of India University, CEERA in collaboration with Central Pollution Control Board organized a five day training program on Environmental Legislations and their Interpretations. It greatly focused on the implementation and interpretations of the various legislations enacted in the country from time to time and also a check on their compliances and as to how effective they are in today’s scenario. It was of great relevance as the 16 participants in the workshop were from various sectors such as state pollution boards and from industries like Jindal Steel, Reliance, Adani etc.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME ON SPORTS LAW. COORDINATORS – DR. SAIRAM BHAT & MR. PRAVEEN TRIPATHI (9TH TO 11TH FEBRUARY 2018 )
The National Law School of India University, organised a Three day professional certificate course for Sports industry professionals, representatives of governing bodies & lawyers and students with career aspirations in sports law. The Course aimed to present a consolidated structure of sports law in India , in theory as well in applied form .
NLSIU IN ASSOCIATION WITH UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ORGANISED AN INCEPTION AND FIVE DAY TRAINING THE TRAINERS WORKSHOP (12th TO 16th FEBRUARY 2018)
In India, the National Law School of India, Bengaluru, the nation’s premier law university has been selected as the lead technical agency for the GoI-UNDP-GEF Project.
The first phase of the project involved conducting Inception and Training the Trainers workshop aimed at training law professors/teachers and key persons from the industry in the fundamentals of the Biological Diversity Act, the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing and other legal and policy aspects affecting biological diversity and the ABS mechanism in India. This workshop was successfully carried out from the 12th to 16th February 2018 by the National Law School of India University on its campus.
THREE DAY PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE COURSE IN ENERGY LAW AND MANAGEMENT IN INDIA(15th – 17th FEBRUARY 2018)
The Professional certificate course was conducted by CEERA to give participants exposure and training on laws relating to the energy sector and management in the energy sector as well. The resource persons for the Course involved senior faculty and experienced professions sector who were able to give the participants an insight into the various policies and compliance in the Sector .
THE PROJECT LAUNCH WORKSHOP ON REFORMING AND CODIFYING THE POLICY AND LAWS CONCERNING URBAN PLANNING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN THE STATE OF KARNATAKA(20th FEBRUARY 2018)
In furtherance of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Bengaluru and the Law School, a Project Launch Workshop was held on 20th of February, 2018 on Reforming and Codifying the Policy and Laws Concerning Urban Planning and Urban Development in The State of Karnataka in association with National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. The main objective of the Project is to look into the twelve important urban development and planning legislations in the State of Karnataka.
THREE DAY PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE COURSE ON “REAL ESTATE LAWS IN INDIA” (9TH TO 11TH MARCH 2018)
The National Law School of India University organised three days Professional Certification Course on Real Estate Management Laws in India with an objective of providing a comprehensive understanding of Real Estate Laws in India. The was open for participation to management/Reprehensive of real estate sector, Contractors, Builders, Architects, Academicians, research Scholars, Laws students and any others interested.
This course addressed the economic reforms in real estate sector, Apartment Ownership Act, liability of builders under COPRA and Competition Act, Real Estate regulation Authority Act, 2016: Position pre and post RERA, Benami Transaction (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016, Impact of the Central Goods and Services Tax, 2017 and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 on Real Estate, Building Plan Regulations: Commencement of Construction Certificate and Occupancy Certificate, Role of Real Estate Agents and Ethical Practices in the Real Estate Sector.
THREE DAY CERTIFICATE COURSE ON CONTRACT LAW AND MANAGEMENT AT KLE SOCIETY’S LAW COLLEGE, BANGALORE (15TH TO 17TH MARCH 2018)
The Certificate Course on Contract Law and Management was held from 15th March– 25th April, 2018. The programme was inaugurated on 15th March by Prof.(Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, Vice Chancellor, NLSIU , Bengaluru, Prof.(Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor of Law, NLSIU, Bengaluru and Prof.(Dr.) J. M. Mallikarjunaiah, Principal, KLE Law College.
The certificate programme was scheduled with 35 contact hours. The sessions were deliberated by 15 resource persons from among the legal academia, litigation, corporate practice and industry. The course content was designed to provide a critical knowledge and importance of contact clauses in various agreements and their execution.
ONE DAY AGENDA SETTING WORKSHOP FOR CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NANDI HILLS ECO-SYSTEM (12TH APRIL 2018)
The Environmental Law Centres at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) organised a one day “Agenda Setting Workshop for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Nandi Hills Ecosystem” on April 12, 2018 at the International Training Centre, NLSIU. The main objective of the programme was to focus on the unique features of Nandi Hill Ecosystem, and identify current concerns and challenges as regards conserving the Nandi ecosystem. During the workshop views and perspective of different experts in varied fields, including Geology, Hydrology, forestry etc were shared. There were around 40 participants drawn from various fields, including academics.
ONE WEEK REFRESHER COURSE FOR LAW TEACHERS ORGANISED BY NLSIU IN ASSOCIATION BAR COUNCIL OF KERALA M K NAMBYAR ACADEMY FOR CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION, KOCHI , “MARCH OF LAW: CRITICAL REFLECTIONS ON LAW TEACHING AND RESEARCH METHODOLOGY” (9TH TO 15TH JUNE 2018)
National Law School of India University, since its inception has been involved in organizing U.G.C.–Sponsored Refresher Courses for law teachers aimed at advancing the quality of teaching and research in all branches of law, both at the graduate and post-graduate levels.
The subject areas extend to substantive and procedural courses. In line with the above objective, the National Law School in collaboration with the Bar Council of Kerala, M.K Nambyar Academy for Continuing Legal Education Kochi, organised a One Week Refresher Course for Law Teachers. The course was designed with the focus on “Critical Reflection in Law Teaching and Research Methodology”. The Course looked at the curriculum, study materials and teaching methods of Constitutional Law, International Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law, Contract Law, Business Law and Arbitration Law. The focus of the course was to update the techniques and tools for learning and teaching.
NATIONAL SEMINAR ON CLIMATE CHANGE CHALLENGES : ROLE OF LAW, POLICY AND MANAGEMENT (15TH JUNE 2018)
The Centre for Environmental Law Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA) at the National Law School of India University organised a One Day seminar on “Climate Change Challenges in India: Role of Law, Policy and Management” on 15th June, 2018.
The Seminar aimed at conducting a discussion amongst legal luminaries, academicians, scientists, industrialists, environmentalists and other stakeholders on issues such as, the effect of climate change on personal security, public health, physical, biological, and ecological systems, and the environment. The seminar was helpful since it was conducted at a time when a policy for climate change is being formulated by the present Government. The seminar was attended by more than 90 participants, wherein five parallel sessions were held for the purpose of paper presentations.
THREE DAY PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE COURSE ON “PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION LAWS (6TH TO 8TH JULY 2018)
The National Law School of India University since its inception has taken proactive steps in organizing
conferences, seminars, workshops, refresher courses and certificate courses to update academicians, law teachers, students, industry personnel in different subject areas. In continuance with such efforts, the Law School organized a Three Day Professional Certificate Course on ‘Privacy and Data Protection Laws’ from 6th to 8th July, 2018. The Professional Certificate Course aimed at creating awareness and increasing the subject knowledge base by bringing together the participants of varied backgrounds which included legal counsels, senior consultants, compliance officers, data protection officers, technical officers, academicians, students and other stakeholders.
NLSIU TWO DAY INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR SERIES-2 ON ‘ENFORCEMENT TRENDS OF ARBITRAL AWARDS: A COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE’ (27TH TO 28TH JULY 2018)
The National Law School of India University since its inception has taken proactive steps in organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, refresher courses and certificate courses to update academicians, law teachers, students, industry personnel in different subject areas.
In continuance with such efforts, the Law School organized one of its kind International seminar on ‘Enforcement Trends of Arbitral Awards’ on 27th and 28th July, 2018. The Two Day International Seminar on Enforcement Trends of Arbitral Awards was designed to understand the practical implications of legal developments in the area of international commercial arbitration by bringing together the participants of varied backgrounds which included legal practitioners, arbitrators, academicians, research scholars, solicitors, attorneys, advocates and students who were invited to submit papers and participate in the seminar
WORKSHOP ON LAW & COMPLIANCE UNDER THE BIODIVERSITY ACT, 2002 WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE STATE OF KARNATAKA (6th August 2018)
The Centre for Environmental Law Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA), National Law School of India University, Bengaluru organised a One Day Workshop on Law & Compliance under the Biodiversity Act, 2002 With Special Reference to The State Of Karnataka, in association with the Karnataka Biodiversity Board on the 6th of August, 2018. The workshop was held in order to understand the different challenges faced by KBB, the deficiencies in the BD legislations, both from implementational and interpretational standpoint, to understand the compliance related challenges posed in the enforcement of the provision of the BD Act and other such related matters.
